PopEye Gallery proudly presents "Word Up " a text based exhibition featuring some of Cleveland's greatest wordsmiths. You have probably seen their art works around town, driven right past one of their Inter|Urban project murals or enjoyed their work in a museum, gallery, coffee shop, or just scrolled through an artwork online, and if your were lucky enough you got mail from one of them. Their witty remarks have made us laugh and cry. These three artists wear their hearts on their sleeves or better yet put them right on paper expressing every human emotion. Writing the words most couldn't find or just didn't have the courage to say. These artists have all the feels. We are so happy to have all three showing in one gallery.

Amber Esner - is an illustrator, screen printer, designer, and mail maker. She has been a very active member of the arts community as Co-curator of nine "Cozy Up" exhibits in the Waterloo Arts district, and member of the Canopy Collective on Lorain Ave and most recently christened a new gallery in Gordon Square with an exhibit with her best friend titled "Them, There, It." Amber is inspired by the things people say, experiences that make her heart melt, and interactions that make her stomach ache. She was included in the Inter|Urban public art project spanning along the Redline Rapid.

Erin Guido - Likes making things with lots of shapes and colors. She uses bright colorful cuts of paper and glues them directly to the site. Her work can be found on walls of all sizes from the Cleveland public library Lorain branch, and local shops like Mason's Creamery, Phoenix Coffee, the Beet Jar juice bar and takeaway, and public murals in Hingetown and Tremont. Erin recently was part of "Please Touch" an interactive art exhibition at the Akron Art Museum. She just finished painting a pair of giant "love doves" on the West Shoreway retaining wall at West 25th Street as part of Instagram's #kindcomments campaign in honor of LGBT Pride Month. Erin is also Co-founder of So Fun Studio a collaborative art project with her best friend and actively involved in community and public arts.

Katy Kosman - Is a text artist whose work has crossed coasts with a recent solo show at San Francisco's Park Life Gallery, a partnership with Los Angeles based Valley Cruise Press, and a merchandising deal with Urban Outfitters. She just launched an apparel brand with Sahm Hanson of Beachwood, OH boutique Brigade called Guided. Katy was also a member of the Canopy Collective and continues to sell merchandise there and has published two notable zines, "Dear Vodka" and "Ha Ha Ha," which have become sensations in their own rights. She also created a mural as part of the Inter|Urban public art project spanning along the Redline Rapid.

An opening reception for Word Up  takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June. 16th during Third Friday at 78th Street Studios. The exhibition remains on view for Third Friday in July (July 21st). Immediately following both receptions, local musician and co-founder of Survival Kit Brian Straw presents free performances by local bands and musicians in the gallery.

PopEye Gallery is located in Suite 303 on the third floor of 78th Street Studios. As always, all Third Friday events are free and open to the public. For more information about PopEye Gallery or these artists, visit PopEyeGallery.com  AmberEsner.com  ErinGuido.com  KatyKosman.com
