Katy Richards  

Bio: 

Born: in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.  

After high school she went directly to the Cleveland Institute of art where she received her Bachelors in Fine Art. While attending the Cleveland Institute of art Katy has been awarded the CIA Portfolio Grant, Women’s Art Club Grant, CIA Honorary Scholarship, East-Boltman Memorial Prize, Carl Gaertner ’24 Memorial Prize, and the John Paul Wrobble ’53 Prize for Excellence in Painting. In 2010 she was in the group exhibition We All Stand, at the Cleveland Institute of Art Coventry Center, and that summer she had her first solo show Primal Cuts, at the Arts Collinwood Gallery. In the fall her work was purchased for the Dealer Tire’s private collection. In 2011 she was awarded the AICUO Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University and participated in a panel discussion concerning her development as an artist and her experience at CIA. After receiving her BFA in the Spring 2011 Katy’s work was in four group shows over the summer; Student Summer Show, at the Cleveland Institute of Art Reinberger Gallery, Annual Memeber’s Show at Arts Collinwood Gallery, 2nd Annual BAZAARBEQUE, at Forum Artspace, and ARTSHOW, at the Doubting Thomas Gallery. This fall Katy will be pursuing her Masters in Fine Art at Cranbrook Academy of Art and in the winter will be having a solo show at the Rotten Meat Gallery in Cleveland Ohio.
