Dustin D. Nowlin

Bio:

Born: Cleveland, OH

DustinNowlin@gmail.com        Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1986 Dustin Nowlin is an American artist. Whose disciples included painting, assemblage, installation, filmmaking, and traditional tattooing. As a painter he is know for his use of expressive color and  allegorical storytelling influenced by spiritual iconography and African Diaspora.  Nowlin demonstrated extraordinary artistic ability at an early age, wining many awards and competitions, locally and nationally. Eventually, he was awarded a merit-based scholarship to the Columbus College Of Art and Design, where he studied briefly before leaving to pursue a non-traditional approach to artistic study.         In 2008 Nowlin moved back to his hometown to take up residency in the local burgeoning arts communities. Participating in everything from workshops, to public art projects, and regional groups shows. During this time he also become known for his use of a concept known as “Mandatory Propaganda”, in which the central narrative of the piece is opened to debate. Visual motifs succh as “NEW” are used to illustrate everything from life and death to the demand of mass consumption and diversion. Although an avid traveler and tradesman. Nowlin now lives in Cleveland studying and exploring new techniques on a daily basis.
